Process:

Across the world, projects are being implemented that directly reduce greenhouse gas emissions or indirectly lower them by providing renewable energy into our power grid. The projects that provide these reductions may include wind or solar power, methane capture, reforestation or other methods that reduce greenhouse gases. Upon completion of these projects, the owners or investors must obtain verification of the exact benefits and additionality provided by their efforts. This process includes on-site visits, monitoring and auditing to ensure the expected results are achieved. Verification may be provided by the Chicago Climate Exchange, Voluntary Carbon Standard, Gold Standard, Green-e Energy, Environmental Protection Agency or other independent, third-party companies. Once a project has this verification, its greenhouse gas reductions can be offered as offsets or credits on an open market. OffsetCarbonCredits.com then purchases these offsets in bulk from carbon exchanges and registries such as APX, World Green Exchange, Chicago Climate Exchange and others to resell to consumers in smaller quantities and in a much easier process.
